German Academy for Educational Leadership
The German Academy for Educational Leadership (DAPF) at TU Dortmund University bridges research and practice in school leadership by offering tailored professional development programs for aspiring principals, department heads, and educational administrators. Founded twenty years ago, the DAPF has made significant contributions to the professionalization of school leadership. The teaching team consists of around 50 experts, dedicated to promoting and qualifying leaders across all levels of education.
Qualification in the Learning and Research Factory
The gap between science and economy sometimes seems large. Not so at the Ruhr Innovation Lab! Founded in 2008, the learning and research factory at Ruhr University Bochum replicates the entire production process of a commercial enterprise, from technology and organization to human resources. Modern laboratories, machine tools, industrial robots, and measurement technology are not only used for research and teaching, but also for various qualification programs. Specialists and managers can receive further training here in areas such as lean management, smart factories, and agile working methods.
Embracing Demographic Change: Study Program for Seniors
As society faces demographic shifts, the need for lifelong learning becomes increasingly relevant. TU Dortmund University's Study Program for Seniors addresses this change by inviting individuals aged 50 and above to engage in meaningful education. Established in 1980, the initiative promotes preparation for civic engagement and emphasizes personal growth. Participants also enhance academic discourse with their insights while fostering community through a cross-generational mentorship projectfor international students.

Machine Learning in Data Science: Training on the Job
Many essential skills today are so new that they weren’t part of academic education of specialists and decision-makers in the workforce. Since 2024, TU Dortmund University's certificate course, "Machine Learning in Data Science," has addressed this gap by offering professionals a part-time, scientifically grounded program to master machine learning and AI. With the innovative "Bring your own data" approach, participants apply their knowledge to personal projects and gain practical expertise to stay competitive in an evolving business world.
